The latest on Ebola in the U.S. as well as signs and symptoms

Thomas Eric Duncan, the American patient carrying the Ebola virus is still fighting for his life in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. His family is currently being quarantined in their apartment but is thought to be relocated soon to a donated home in a gated community, once the vehicle Duncan was in is quarantined. The family in quarantine consist of three men, a 13 year old boy by the name of Timothy, and Duncan’s wife Louise Troh. Dallas officials want to get the family to a place that has a washer and dryer. Clay Jenkins, a Dallas County Judge, was seen on the premises to apologize to the family for the quarantine. He was also quoted as telling the family he wanted to make sure that they were being treated as well as he would want his family to be treated.

The North Texas Food Bank was seen yesterday delivering three days worth of food to the apartment for the family, while in quarantine. Duncan’s wife said in an interview, she was concerned and frustrated because the towels, sheets and blankets that Duncan was sleeping on and using were in plastic bags in one of the bedrooms of the apartment. She was worried about contamination. A Hazmat team has been hired to dispose of the hazardous sheets and towels, but they are waiting for permits to be issued, allowing them to transport the hazardous waste to the appropriate facilities to be disposed of correctly. By law, you cannot transport hazardous waste on the highways without a permit.

It is said that the number of people Duncan has possibly come in contact with is now at 100 and at least 8 children. The airlines have to contact over 400 passengers as a precaution for also having contact with Duncan. Officials are discussing prosecution because Duncan lied about coming into contact with an Ebola patient in Liberia, in order to gain entrance back into the country.

What You Should Know About Ebola

Ebola is one of the most horrifying diseases on the planet. It is highly contagious and it has no cure. According to the CDC, Ebola is a hemorrhagic fever that causes internal bleeding, external bleeding, liver failure and kidney failure. It is a combination of four different Ebola strains. There is a 8 to 21 day incubation period. It is transmitted through body secretions, blood and infected surfaces. It is not however, airborne.

Signs and Symptoms Of Ebola

Some of the signs and symptoms of ebola are fever, headache muscle pain and weakness, and sore throat. It starts off feeling a bit like a cold or the flu. As the disease progresses, the symptoms increase and migrate into vomiting, diarrhea, hiccups, rashes, stomach pain and then internal and external bleeding. A carrier is not contagious until the symptoms become evident. The good news is you cannot get infected by breathing the same air as an infected carrier.
The people most at risk for contracting the disease are the medical staff and caregivers of infected patients. They have more access to bodily fluids and contaminated surfaces such as needles and medical equipment. If you show any signs of symptoms, quarantine yourself immediately and seek medical attention.

New Planet Discovered: Gliese 581g is a ‘Goldilocks’ Planet

Scientists have announced that they have discovered a new planet that they are calling Gliese581 (or Gliese 581g), that falls in the “Goldilocks’ zone. A ‘Goldilocks’ planet is one which is an appropriate distance from the sun, meaning that it could be habitable for human beings, as well as other forms of life.

The new planet has all the aspects needed for life, including gravity, an atmosphere, and an average temperature of approximately 10.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The atmosphere and gravity on the planet mean that there is a really good chance there could be water on it. All of these conditions make Gliese 581 g very livable for human beings.

The planet is located 20 light years from Earth, yet is still very very similar to earth as far as living conditions go. 20 light years away seems extremely long to a normal human being, but in terms of astronomy, it really isn’t all that far. Gliese 581g has a mass approximately 3 1/2 times that of Earth, and it only takes 37 days to orbit its sun.

Could Gliese 581g have alien life on it? Scientist plan to look further into that question.

“We had planets on both sides of the habitable zone – one too hot and one too cold, and now we have one in the middle that’s just right,” explained Steve Vogt, the co-discoverer of Gliese 581g.

Vogt also went on to say, “Our findings offer a very compelling case for a potentially habitable planet.”

These findings come only days after officials from the U.S. Airforce came out and reported that they had been hiding information about UFOs and Aliens that had disabled nuclear weapons on a testing base. Could we be close to finding Alien life? It’s very possible.
